Be sure to stop by the North Pike District Library on Thursday, October 30 during Trick or Treat hours! There will be treats and “make n take” crafts available for the little ones. Don’t miss the fun, bring your friends and bring your family!
Trunk or Treat “Trunks” on the Pittsfield square Oct 31 are open to the community! $100 to be given to the best dressed trunk. This is a community event serving all kids in Pike County. All trunks are welcome and encouraged to participate, businesses, family and personal.

Illinois has a free amplified phone program. West Central Illinois Area on Aging will be at the Pike County Senior Services office in fellowship hall First Christian Church Tuesday and Wednesday, October 14-15 so anyone can try out several different amplified phones to see which best suits their needs.
There is no age limit or income limit and the phones are free. When placing a request for phone, persons need a statement from doctor showing they are hearing impaired. Call Connie, 217-285-6150 to make appointment or for more information. Those having an amplified phone four years are entitled to a new phone. Call Connie and come see new and improved phones.
The Chambersburg Christian Church will hold its 100th Annual Chicken Dinner Thursday, Aug. 28. Serving will begin at 4:30 p.m. Carryouts will be from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Those wanting a carry-out after 4:30 p.m. will need to get a number and then go through the line. The menu will consist of fried chicken, potato salad, slaw, corn, baked beans, 5-cup salad and lots of pies and cakes. Homemade ice cream will also be available. To celebrate our 100th chicken dinner, there will be entertainment by Misty Trone and N-Pursuit beginning at 4:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and share in food and fellowship.
The next meeting of the Pike/Calhoun Retired Teachers will be May 15 at 11:30 am in the Red Apple Room of the Old Orchard Country Club. Our Area 4 representative, Charlotte Hubbard, will be our guest speaker. All former educators and those interested in our public school system are encouraged to attend. Your support is needed.
