For more than 25 years Pittsfield has celebrated Pike County’s large pork industry with their annual Pig Days festival. In honor of the pig there are activities such as longest pig tail contest and hog calling contests. There are arts and crafts, kids games, and live entertainment. And as you would expect, food stands offer some tasty pork specialties.
Event is to be held on the Courthouse Square in downtown Pittsfield. Friday 5 pm – 10 pm and Saturday: 9 am – 10 pm

Enjoy the 47th annual Pig Day celebration, celebrating Pike County’s deep agricultural roots. The event, held on the courthouse lawn begins Friday night with the crowning of Little Miss Piglet, the girl age 4-6 with the longest braids and new this year, Mr. Pork Chop, a boy, the same age, dressed in farming attire, either past or present.
8 am – Vendors open on square & courthouse grounds
10 am until sold out – Pork burgers $2.50 or 5/$10 sponsored by Illinois Pork Industry, proceeds to Lions Scholarships
5:30 pm – Check in and judging for Little Miss Piglet contest (east side of courthouse)
6 pm – Welcoming remarks, Jim Jacques, emcee
6-6:30 pm – Little Miss Piglet Contest
6-9 pm – Lions Club kids rides
6:30-9 pm – Entertainment on stage, Hurricane Creek, classic rock & country
6:45 pm – Check in and judging for Little Mr. Pork Chop contest (east side of courthouse)
7:30 pm – Little Mr. Pork Chop Contest
7-11 am – Farmer’s Market on west side of square
8 am – Vendors open on square and courthouse grounds
9 am – Kids games sign up on north side of square (trophies for kids games handed out immediately after each event)
9:15-11 am – Kids games begin – games include Kid’s Tractor Pull, Hay scramble and Balloon Toss
10:30 am – Lions Club will serve their famous pork sandwiches
11 am – Pigskin Toss Contest (all ages)
12 noon – 6 pm – Afternoon entertainment on stage featuring Robert Sampson, Christine Henthorne and family, Ali Nicole Browning and others TBA
2-4 pm – Western Illinois Tractor Club (WITC), Antique Tractor display – north side of square
5-9 pm – Lions Club kids rides and jump toys
6:30-10 pm – Robert Sampson Band

The 46th annual Pike County Pig Days is July 11-12 on courthouse grounds in Pittsfield. Members of Pittsfield Lions Club, organizers of the event, are in the final planning stages. Funds raised are funneled back to the community through various projects and organizations supported by the Lions Club.
Pork burgers will be available Friday, 10 am and throughout the day for $2. Western Illinois Pork Producers furnish the meat Friday and Saturday. Entertainment Friday night is “Stompin Ground”. Other entertainment will be announced later. Vendor space is available.
