Western IL Fair seeks Pageant Contestants

The Western IL Fair is seeking contestants for the 2015 Queen and Princess Pageants.  The queen contestants must be between the ages of 16-21.  The princess contestants must be ages 5-6.  The contestants may reside in the counties of Adams, Brown, Calhoun, Morgan, Pike or Scott.  The queen contest offers a $1,000 scholarship along with cash and prizes.  For more information contact Beth White at 217-370-3638.

Youth Cake Decorating Workshop – April 6 – Pittsfield, IL

The University of Illinois Extension Unit 14 will be offering a Cake Decorating Workshop for youth ages 8-18 on Monday, April 6 from 9:30 am to 11 am at the Pike County Farm Bureau building located at 1301 E. Pikeland Preschool Head Start free vision, hearing & developmental screening – March 3-6 – Pittsfield

Pikeland District #10 Preschool, Early Childhood and PACT Head Start programs free vision, hearing and developmental screening is March 3-6 at Pittsfield United Methodist Church.  Screening, along with parent information determines eligibility for these programs.

Parents of children 2 1/2 – 4 years of age, who live in Pikeland Unit #10 district are invited to schedule a developmental screening appointment.  PACT Head Start serves limited income families.  If you feel your child may be eligible for this program, bring proof of income and proof of child’s birth date.  Tax returns for 2014, W-2’s and/or check stubs serve as income verification.  Birth certificate, medical card or immunization record verifies birth.

Toy Drive & Cookie Walk at Game – Dec 16 – Griggsville, IL

santa-clausOn Tuesday, December 16 beginning at 6 pm, the Tornadoes will play at home vs Pittsfield. Admission will be a toy to donate for the G-P Toy Drive to benefit the Griggsville-Perry School District Christmas Families. One adult or child admission free per toy. Also on that night, Team Impact will hold it’s annual Cookie Walk from 3:30 pm until the end of the game.

If you would like to donate cookies, please bring them to Kayt Risley on Monday, December 15. OTSD will be at the game that night handing out goodies.

Art Speaks – Nov 24 thru Dec 6 – Pittsfield, IL

artArt Speaks, the loudest silent auction you will ever attend, is November 24 – December 6 at Free Press Coffee Shop in Pittsfield with original pieces made by Mrs. Davidsmeyer’s art classes. Winners will be announced December 6. Proceeds go to the PHS Art Program.

PHS Food & Toy Drive Begins This Week – Pittsfield, IL

check this out buttonPHS Student Council Food and Toy Drive began this week. Food, personal items and money for 20 families and 30 senior citizens will be collected. Each child receives a toy they have specified on a wish list, plus an outfit (top and bottom) of winter clothing, unless they have specified an other clothing need. Clubs and organizations are asked to bring specific items.

A giving tree with gift tags will be in the front foyer by November 17. Purchases must be new items only. Money will also be collected in homerooms. Final day to contribute is Friday, December 17. Homeroom with the most points will enjoy a celebration in January. Contact Mrs. Davidsmeyer or Mrs. Aebel for more information.

Bingo Anyone? – Nov 15 – Pleasant Hill, IL

BingoPleasant Hill FFA Alumni is hosting a Longenberger Basket Bingo Saturday, November 15 at Pleasant Hill Elementary School. Supper is at 5:30 pm, Bingo starts at 7 pm. Everyone is welcome to play.
