Pikeland Community School Spring Band Concert is Tuesday, May 12 at 7:30 pm in PCS Gym at the Middle School in Pittsfield. There is no admission and concert is open to the public.
The 5th, 6th, Jr. High and Jazz Bands will be featured. A variety of music will be performed, including The Phantom of the Opera Medley, Misty, Watermelon Man and a grand finale tribute to those who have served our country, ending with “The Stars and Stripes Forever”.
Outstanding Band Awards will be presented at the concert. Public invited.
A big Rib Fest cook-out and concert will be happening in Nebo, Illinois in support of the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
Saturday, May 23 is the day at Heartland Sunset Valley Lodge at 38789 115th Avenue, outside of Nebo. A free will donation will be accepted for the Wounded Warrior Foundation, with gates opening at 9:00 a.m. and opening ceremonies beginning at 9:30 a.m.
1,200 pounds of ribs will be cooked up, plus hot dogs, brats and side dishes.
Live music will start at 10:00 a.m. Bands include, The Harmans, Black Suede Band, Stomping Ground and Country Soul. Music will go on until 7:30 p.m.

The Southern Gospel recording artists, The Chosen Ones, will be appearing May 2 at 6:15 pm at the Detroit Christian Church in Detroit, located 7 miles East of Pittsfield on State Hwy 106. There are over 163 million orphans in the world. Come hear orphan children from India and Ethiopia, as they share God’s heart for children in need, and learn about tangible ways to respond. The His Little Feet International Children’s Choir will be performing at Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene at 6:00 PM. The event is free and open to the public. Be encouraged. Be inspired. Pike County Senior Center will have the band “Kin Folk’s” on Saturday, January 31, weather permitting. There will be food at 5:30 pm and music starts at 7 pm. This will be the last band until April. If there is a lot of snow or ice, event will be cancelled.
The Griggsville United Methodist Women invite you to attend their annual “Carols of Christmas” Bazaar on Friday, November 21 from 10 am to 2 pm. Doors open at 10 am and lunch will begin at 11 am with soup, sandwiches, desserts and drinks. Items for sale will include homemade candies, yeast breads, cakes, cookies, tea rings and other assorted dessert items. There will be live music from 11 am to 1 pm. Barry Community Chorus will begin rehearsals on Monday, Oct. 20, 7:30 p.m. at the Barry United Methodist Church. This year’s cantata is called “Darkness Into Light”. The performance date is Dec. 14.
