Meningitis Vaccination Clinic Schedule – Pittsfield, IL

To help meet the 2015-2016 new school requirements for meningitis vaccination, Pike County Health Department is highlighting meningitis vaccination during summer immunization clinics.

Immunization clinic dates are the following Mondays:  June 15, July 6, July 20, August 3, and August 17.  Additional back-to-school immunization clinics will be scheduled in August.

Beginning school year 2015-2016 all students entering the 6th and 12th grades will be required to show proof of recent meningococcal vaccination.  All 6th graders will be required to show proof of one dose received on or after 11 years of age.  All 12th graders will need to show proof of receiving two doses, unless the first dose was administered after 16 years of age.  In this case, only one dose after 16 years of age is required.  This vaccination will prevent a severe form of bacterial meningitis and could save your child’s life.

State purchased vaccinations are available for children covered by KidCare or Medical Card, children who have no health insurance, and children whose insurance does not include vaccinations as a benefit.

Vaccinations are available for those with private health insurance coverage.  You must call your health insurance company to verify Pike County Health Department is in-network and your insurance covers vaccinations, prior to coming.  Most, but not all, insurance plans are accepted.

Get your child vaccinated now to avoid the back to school rush in August!  For more information, contact Nancy Halpin, RN at Pike County Health Department 217-285-4407, ext 124.
